RISE robotics workshops
RISE provides free robotics workshops for students in grades 4–6. Placer Robotics can host a workshop at the Placer Robotics Center or bring equipment and instructors to a school, library, or community organization.
How RISE works
RISE runs as a “Robot Olympics”: students rotate through builder, coder, and creative-thinker roles in game-based challenges like robot soccer. Along the way they build teamwork, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and perseverance.
Attend a workshop
Attend a weekend workshop at the Placer Robotics Center in downtown Roseville or bring RISE to your school. Free school-based workshops are available for groups of 10 or more students in grades 4–6. Any school, library, or youth group can request one; when we have more requests than dates, we give priority to communities with the least access to hands-on STEM. Partners complete a short interest form.
Olive Grove Elementary
A single RISE workshop at Olive Grove Elementary started it. Placer Robotics provided all the equipment for their first year and mentored the program while students and teachers built up their own knowledge. After a successful year, their teacher secured district funding to buy Olive Grove's own equipment — and the school has run the program independently ever since, with three competition teams.
Every workshop so far
4 workshops, 70 students — every one of them free to the school and the family.
RISE is currently funded by grants from the United Auburn Indian Community and First Tech Federal Credit Union, and runs in partnership with schools including the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District.
