A 15- and 30-pound combat robotics arena for the region

Placer Robotics is developing a portable, full-containment arena built for two classes: the California 15-pound State Championships we already host under NRL rules, and the 30-pound class the region does not yet have a venue for.

It is designed for youth and college teams, school demonstrations, and regional events across Placer County and Greater Sacramento.

Regional growth

The next step in a system that is already working

In 2018, the region had no local youth combat competitions. Placer Robotics has since built 4 combat arenas, developed a season of local competition, and become the host of the California 15-pound State Championships. This arena gives that championship a purpose-built home and adds the 30-pound class, which the region has no venue for today.

The arena is planned as shared regional infrastructure, not equipment for one permanent venue. It must travel, store efficiently, set up with a trained crew, and use parts that local shops can repair or replace.

Built for teams, schools, events, and technical education

Youth combat teamsA regional path from smaller combat classes to the 15-pound championship stage and on to advanced 30-pound design, fabrication, repair, and competition.

The project is informed by Sierra College Mechatronics, regional combat robotics experience, and local fabrication resources. Exact review, fabrication, and student roles remain subject to confirmation.

A name that travels with it

Sponsor recognition at every event

Planned roof-edge and lower-perimeter recognition zones travel with the arena to competitions, demonstrations, and community events. Final panel quantity, dimensions, and placement will follow the selected structure and the approved sponsor program.

Sponsor the arenaSupport the project through title, presenting, material, fabrication, or community-partner recognition.
Contribute materials or servicesThe project needs polycarbonate, steel, cutting, welding, coatings, hardware, transportation, storage, and event support.
Provide technical reviewQualified engineers, fabricators, arena operators, and experienced combat robotics organizers can review the design, fabrication plan, handling plan, and operating procedures.

Is the arena already built?
No. The project is in design development, and the current concepts are under independent engineering and fabrication review.
Which weight classes is the arena for?
Both. It is sized for the California 15-pound State Championships, which Placer Robotics already hosts under NRL rules, and for the 30-pound class, which gives youth and college teams a regional path to more advanced design, manufacturing, repair, and competition.
Will the arena replace the current smaller arenas?
No. Placer Robotics has built four smaller combat arenas in two years, and those keep serving the ant and plastic-ant classes. This arena gives the 15-pound championships a purpose-built home and adds 30-pound capability.
Can a company contribute materials or shop work?
Yes. The project can use qualified support for polycarbonate, steel, cutting, welding, coatings, hardware, transportation, storage, and engineering review.
Can we reserve the arena for an event now?
Not yet. The arena is not built, and no public-use date is confirmed.
