Dec 22-23, Dec 29-30 (Mon, Tue each week, 9-1pm)

Grades 7-9*: 3D Design: CAD Your Own Battle Bot Winter Camp

Classes will be held over 4 days due to holiday schedule. Mon-Tue Dec 22-23, and Mon-Tu Dec 29-30. 9-1pm each session

A 4-day camp where students use Onshape to design their own combat robot. This camp focuses on intermediate CAD skills as students design their own plastic 1 pound combat robot. (not beginner CAD instruction)

Days 1–2: Instructor-guided lessons where students follow along to model an example combat robot and learn key design strategies.

Days 3–4: Design days where students create their own custom robot concept, producing a fully modeled, 3D-print-ready design.

Note: We can print your completed design at the end of camp, but building is not included in this camp.

Prerequisites: No prior combat robotics experience required. Students are expected to have basic CAD proficiency (2D sketches, constraints, simple extrusions).

Ages: 7th–9th grade students. We will consider 6th grade students on case by case base.

This is a great course to learn combat robotics design basics - and maybe even build it on your own to compete at our Impact Robotics League Events on January 31 and March 20!

About Your Instructors!
Chase C. is a Placer Robotics Alum and current UC Santa Barbara Mechanical Engineering student, and the designer and builder of Fragment - currently the #18 ranked plastic ant robot in entire US, and Roof Eater , a devastating hammer saw ! Chase is renown for his innovative design and compact wiring!

Colin M is Placer Robotics Alum, competing at the the BattleBots IQ South by South West invitational event in 2024. Colin has been one of our lead instructors for 3d design and combat camps for the past 2 years, and is currently pursuing his engineering degree at Sierra College.
