4th Annual Girl Powered Workshop Introduces Local Girls to Robotics
On October 12, 2025, Placer Robotics welcomed 29 girls in grades 4–6 to the 4th Annual Girl Powered Workshop at the Roseville Venture Lab in downtown Roseville. During the full-day event, teams jumped into fun, hands-on engineering and coding challenges, many of them building and driving a robot for the first time.
Thirty participants designed and built VEX IQ robots to perform game-style tasks. By the afternoon, the workshop turned into a friendly mini-competition, with teams cheering each other on as they tested their robots on the challenge field.
Confidence, Community, and STEM Skills
The workshop was designed to be beginner-friendly and welcoming, with the goal of encouraging more girls to become involved with robotics and STEM. The Girl Powered workshop environment focused on curiosity, creativity, and trying something new.
Powered by Student Leadership and Volunteer Mentors
Thanks to our Girl Powered student leadership team for leading the workshop’s planning, recruitment, and on-site execution. Your efforts helped continue the Girl Powered tradition at Placer Robotics.
We’re also grateful to the many mentors and volunteers who made sure our student teams had support, encouragement, and the technical guidance they needed. You served as role models for younger students stepping into STEM and robotics for the first time!
What’s Next
Since launching, Placer Robotics’ Girl Powered program has introduced over 120 girls to STEM and robotics and continues to be a key part of our outreach mission.
Keep an eye out for more Girl Powered and RISE Program (for underrepresented and low-income students) opportunities in 2026!
